Why Lakou Data
A lakou is the shared courtyard an extended family lives around. Lakou Data aims to be that shared space for Haitian artificial intelligence: a place where products, teams and trends are visible, so developers, investors, funders, universities and government can decide based on facts.
Complementary to what exists
The ProAI mapping (Banj, with IDB support) catalogues ecosystem actors. Lakou Data focuses on the products themselves and follows them over time. The two approaches complement each other.
Limits
No inventory is exhaustive. Many products are not public and the use of AI tools to build software is rarely disclosed. The numbers show trends, not a complete census.
